Marcel
As a pokerplayer Marcel Luske has had a remarkable career with tournament cashes all over the world. He turned pro ten years ago and within two years became the #1 ranked player in Europe.
PokerStars offers their qualifiers to enjoy playing with the best players in the
world but not only qualifers enjoy it. I do as well. It’s always a pleasure to sit with friendly people, enjoy the great service and play with good players. It’s a real challenge that will learn you a lot in a short period of time.
It was the first time I played against Jonathan Duhamel and although it was a $ 2.000 invitation only cashgame it gives you a very good look at the way people play and I focused on the WSOP Main Event Champion. I would judge that he was playing a smooth, fearless and smart aggressive style and he was very relaxed in all his moves, mostly in position. Ofcourse he did get tested a couple of times but you could feel the respect he was getting at the table. I had position on him the whole game but didn’t get many opportunities as we
only played a 3 hour session. That gives us, other than an online cashgame, only 75 hands of play.
It were not the stakes of the cash game that made the game pleasant,
but more the experience the invited players had that won their PokerStars Home
Game package. All together it was a great day and while I lost some money, we enjoyed the karaoke, the darts, the drinking and the food. Because after all, I noticed, it’s Macau’s specialty to give their visitors a sure and very pleasant stay.
Something made it really special and than I talk about the special system they had for all their players. They introduced a re-entry tournament that takes seven days. If you did not qualify today you went home to relax and you had another shot the day after. This way you didn’t need twelve rebuys to desperate ‘buy’ a chipstack and due to this structure the prizepool kept raising and it made it very interesting to play this tournament.
For example: A player that did reach the top 7% of the field was sure to
win about 3,5 times his/her money back and if you wanted to play more times you were allowed to do so. The best result was your final score and with that result you went on to play day 1 of the Main Event while you get cash-value for all the other scores.
It makes so much sense to me what they are doing, to give all players
a spread risk management of their money and more options to try again
and again and again. I am really looking forward to see and experience how this will gain
players that appreciate the smaller investments while there is still more skill involved.
Again, it looks to me that the PokerStars Macau Millions team know what they are doing and they are willing to help and support the players from all over the world. They want the players to have the maximum enjoyment for their money when they decide to play the Macau Millions or Red Dragon Poker Championships.
Please take a look at their website,http://www.pokerstarsmacau.com/promotions/macau_millions/, and especially at the re-entry schedule, to learn more about how the PokerStars Team runs their tournaments.
I know that’s it’s a long journey to get to Macau but with the ferry-connection Hong Kong-Macau it’s really easy to travel to Macau. They even bring your luggage directly on board and it’s like a walk in the park.
Lets see what the Asian future brings next and keep an eye open on your next trip because it’s a really pleasant experience. Good luck and
enjoy the music.
